Over 1,700 FEMA GRAS substances have been accepted internationally through the United Nations FAO/WHO Joint Expert Committee on Food Additives (JECFA), an important step toward the global harmonization of flavor ingredients.
Worker safety is an issue of paramount importance to the flavor industry. Through FEMA, the U.S. flavor industry has aggressively addressed respiratory health and safety in flavor manufacturing for more than 10 years. FEMA provides the industry guidance on responsible protections and the provision of relevant respiratory safety training to flavor manufacturers.
