Dr. Richard L. Hall Distinguished Service Award

In 1995, the Board of Governors created the Dr. Richard L. Hall Distinguished Service Award to honor Dr. Hall, whose career has been marked by unique commitment and service to the flavor industry. The award pays tribute to those who have shown outstanding dedication to the advancement of our industry and to the Flavor and Extract Manufacturers Association.

The award is only intended for those whose contributions meet the highest standards of excellence and distinction, and therefore, it will not necessarily be presented routinely each year. It is the Board of Governors’ view that the award will be presented only in those years when a candidate is identified with a record of long and distinguished service.

Criteria for Nomination

The nominee must:

  • Be, or have been, an employee or principal in a FEMA member company;

  • Have a long history of exceptional service to FEMA;

  • Have made critically important contributions to the flavor industry which have significantly influenced the direction of our Association towards the improvement of the industry as a whole.

Did You Know?

FEMA assisted the FDA in developing a standard for vanilla – the Agency’s only standard of identity for a flavoring ingredient.
