Proprietary Flavor Formulations in New Drug Product Applications

FEMA has engaged in advocacy efforts with the Food & Drug Administration (FDA) around protecting proprietary flavor formulations intended for use in new drug product applications. Changes in policy at the agency have resulted in increasing requests for extensive information about flavor formulations outside of the Drug Master File (DMF) process, which was established as a resource to protect the intellectual property of drug product ingredients.

Generic Flavor Brief Project

The Consumer Product Companies Forum (CPCF) will identify methods for critical product information sharing between supplier companies and Consumer Product Companies (CPCs) that encourages efficient product development and regulatory review but does not threaten supplier intellectual property ownership or create the appearance of anti-competitive activity.
