As part of the GRAS re-evaluation program on natural complex substances (NCS), the FEMA Expert Panel is in the process of conducting chemically-based safety assessments on the approximately 250 NCS that currently have FEMA GRAS status. This is a multi-year project with four previous calls for data issued. Information received on each NCS is compiled for review by the FEMA Expert Panel.
The FEMA Expert Panel is now issuing a 5th Call for Data, requesting information on approximately 50 NCS flavoring materials. To facilitate the collection of data, an Excel spreadsheet file, Call for Data NCS-5-2019 has been prepared and contains instructions and a template to be used for data submission. Finally, a PDF document listing Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) provides additional information about the project. All three documents can be accessed by clicking on the underlined text.
The submission period for this fifth call for data ends on July 3, 2019.
