The FEMA Regulatory Affairs Committee (FRAC) and Flavor Labeling Committee (FLC) summer meetings will take place June 19–21 at the Westin Chicago Northwest in Itasca, Illinois.
The Flavor Labeling Workshop is open to both FEMA members and non-members. The Summer Committee meetings are open to the FEMA members only. Attendees may register for one or both events. The registration deadline is June 11.

The group room rate is available until Monday, May 28 at 5 p.m. CDT, based on availability. FEMA recommends you make your room reservations as early as possible to ensure rooms are available.
Flavor Labeling Workshop — June 19
The Flavor Labeling Workshop will include presentations from FEMA’s flavor labeling experts on the most important labeling issues of today. The workshop will address the interpretation and application of FDA’s flavor and food labeling regulations, natural and artificial labeling matters, and the nexus between regulatory authority to use and appropriate labeling of flavors and foods. A focus of the day-long workshop will be issues associated with the appropriate use and labeling of flavors and foods containing flavorings with modifying properties. The workshop will have several opportunities for interaction among attendees and speakers including breakout sessions and a panel Q&A session.
Committee Meetings — June 20–21
As part of this joint meeting, the FRAC and FLC will host two interactive programs for the membership:
- MPPIDS Training — The FLC Committee leadership will provide training on the Meat and Poultry Product Ingredient Data Sheet (MPPIDS). This form can be used to provide information to USDA on FDA flavors in USDA products for USDA labeling regulations.
- Regulatory Challenges from Innovation to Commercialization Panel — The FRAC will host a moderated panel discussion that focuses on the regulatory issues that arise during the process of bringing a flavor to commercialization during the entire production process, from flavor development to finished food product marketing.
